Budget supermarket Aldi is adding four new vegan products to its shelves this month.

The new items include three vegan meat products and one quinoa burger. According to the supermarket, it wants to cater to growing vegan demand, with affordable products.

The new offerings include Mae’s Kitchen Vegan, No Sausage Rolls, which retail for £1.19 for a pack of four. They are joined by Mae’s Kitchen Vegan No Beef Burgers and Mae’s Kitchen Vegan No Chicken Burgers. Both of these products retail at £1.99 for a two-pack.

The final product is Mae’s Kitchen Superfood Burgers, which are made from quinoa, couscous, pumpkin seeds, butternut squash, red pepper, and sweet potato, and retail at £1.29 for a two pack.

Growing vegan range

“The launch of our new vegan range is in response to our growing, ethically inspired customer base, looking for delicious alternatives to meat and another example of our ongoing commitment to cater for all diets, at everyday low prices,” Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, said in a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living.

“We look forward to expanding our vegan offering even further over the coming months.”

Previous vegan launches

The new products follow vegan launches made earlier this by Aldi, including its Meat Free Butcher Quarter Pounders, which are said to look and taste like traditional beef burgers, and are made from soya protein.

The patties, which are said to ‘bleed’ beetroot juice, took 12 months to develop and cost £2.50 for a pack of two.
