British Columbians with depression not getting adequate care

News 1130 highlighted research by Joseph Puyat, a PhD candidate in UBC’s school of population and public health.

The findings suggest that about half of British Columbians dealing with depression do not receive even the most basic level of care.

“It could be the stigma around accessing treatment or even recognizing or acknowledging that one needs treatment,” he said. “The other factors could be some issues with regards to the way our public health coverage is structured to provide access to depression care.”
