“We’ve found updated shots of the new charging case, one of them shows the case with its LED displaying an amber light, meaning the device is currently charging or low on power while the other one shows the case with its LED displaying a green light, indicating that the AirPods case is sufficiently charged.”
The upcoming “AirPods 2” will also support wireless charging using the currently unreleased AirPower wireless charging mat. According to the source, the new AirPods have the model identifier “AirPods1,2” whereas the current model has the identifier “AirPods1,1”.
It is not yet known whether Apple will ship new AirPods with the new case or give users the option before purchasing. As for the new charging case, it will be sold separately for those who already have the original AirPods and AirPods case.
